A look at Sony's Portable TV service for PSP · 2006-04-18 16:10 by Damian, 4 comment(s)

Let’s have a look at one of the free entries, it’s apparently episode 12 of an anime series. From the information you can see that it’s 11 minutes 27 seconds with 4:3 aspect ratio. It will cost us 0 yen, and we can watch it for 5 days before it expires.

If we hit the Download button we’ll be moved to the login screen. This information is usually cached, so unless you clear the browser caches you won’t have to re-enter this every time.

Last minute confirmation before the actual purchase is made. Since in this case it’s free, let’s go.

Standard PSP download confirmation.

Downloading…

Last step, obtaining the DRM license for your new download. From now on, the clock is ticking…

On the standard video clip information screen you can check how much time you have left. And no – you can’t circumvent the protection by resetting your clock if you thought it was going to be that easy.

That’s all there’s to it. But what is available for download? Check out the next page.

  4. Great article. Too bad P-tv is completely Japanese, it’s a bit hard to navigate your way through it if you’re not that proficient in Japanese. I was wondering, in what directory do the downloaded .MGV files go? 100ANV01 as well or another? I’m trying to cook up my own 480×270 AVC files, I’m curious whether it’d work.
